Rivalry Renewed

Tonight is game 1 between the Colorado Avalanche and the Detroit Red Wings. These teams haven't played each other in the post season in 6 years, after having met 5 times in the playoffs between 1996-2002. Needless to say I am VERY excited for this series despite the fact that we haven't beat Detroit all season. Our current team is vastly different with the additions of Peter Forsberg, Adam Foote, Ruslan Salei and a healthy Joe Sakic (who didn't play against Detroit all year due to injuries) and with Jose Theodore playing like a goalie possessed we've got all the makings for an upset. I'm predicting that the Avs will win the series in 6 games.

GO AVS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Biggest Loser week 3 update

Since I won the weigh-in last week I thought that I was in great shape for the rest of the competition, I felt that I had my routine down and I'd be consistently losing 4+ pounds each week, well, I think I need to rethink my workout routines and my eating regiment. This week on the scale I lost 2 pounds and finished second to Angela who lost 3.5 to take home the weekly title, nice job Angela!!! I have been working out 2-3 nights per week and doing some intense cardio during those sessions, but if I'm going to continue to lose weight, I need to maintain my healthy eating all week, maybe take sunday's off, but only after I have worked out, and add working out on the weekends to help out. So this weekend, I'm going to run Saturday morning, then workout for a while saturday night, and run Sunday morning as well, in addition to working out Monday and Tuesday nights. Hopefully this will make a difference and I can drop 4 pounds or so this week to take the weekly title next week!! I am down to 217.4 pounds which is GREAT!!!! I've lost 12.6 in just under 4 weeks!!!! I'm getting closer to getting back down to my goal of 180 :-)

stay tuned..........

Biggest Loser season 5 and week two update

Last night Daria, Matt and I watched the season finale of the Biggest Loser. Daria got me hooked on it in week one and I watched every episode throughout the season!! This was the perfect show for me to get hooked on, since I ballooned up to 230 pounds after stopping running for a while, it provided a motivational spark. The final 3 were Roger, Kelly and Ali, I totally was happy with all 3 contestants but wanted to see Ali or Kelly win it for sure since a woman had never won before.

They brought back all of the previous contestants who had been kicked off to see which one lost the most weight and won the $100,000 prize, it was amazing to see all the weight that everyone had lost. Bernie won the $100,000 prize, I couldn't believe how much he lost away from campus, it was amazing. After that they brought out the final 3 and did their live weigh in's, Roger was in the lead and Ali needed to lose 105 pounds to take the title and become the first ever female Biggest Loser!!! Ali won!!! she entered the show weighing in at 234 pounds,at the finale she weighed in at 122 lbs. In all, she lost 112 lbs., or 47.86% of her body weight!!! It was very nice to see her win and to finally have a woman win the Biggest Loser!! Congrats Ali!!!!

Now, today was the weigh-in for our work Biggest Loser, this is the 2nd week and I was feeling pretty good about my chances. I hit the gym 4 times since last Wednesday, I've been eating healthy, and on the weekend drank a lot less and didn't eat too bad. I was the first one to weigh in, my weight from last week was 223.8 and when I hopped on the the scale and it read 219.4!! I had lost 4.4 pounds!! WOO HOO!!!! last week Jennifer lost 5 pounds to take the weekly victory, but this week she lost 3 pounds, and was my closest competitor!! so needless to say I won this week, which is a GREAT feeling, but I know that there will be more weight lost in the remaining 6 weeks of the competition. Softball, Hockey and hopefully Volleyball will all be on the horizon within the next few weeks!!!!

The Biggest loser

So, I have never seen any seasons of The Biggest Loser before, until this season. I have been hooked from the first episode!!! Last night was the 2nd to last episode of the season and there are 4 contestants left (1 of which will be voted off by the viewers) and the live season finale is next week!!! In honor of this show there is a group of my co-workers who started our own competition. It will last 8 weeks total, the biggest loser (pound wise) each week gets $1 from every other person, and after the 8th week, the biggest loser overall (% wise) gets $20 from every other person!!

Today was our second weigh in, I lost 3 pounds from last week, which isn't bad at all, but this past weekend I wasn't good at all, didn't workout, ate like crap, and drank waaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyy too much!! But despite all that and only working out once, I lost 3 pounds. I have a newfound motivation for the upcoming week, I'm determined by the time this competition is over to be under 200 pounds at least (180 is my ultimate goal) and I know that I can do it!!!!!

I started out weighing 226.8 pounds last week, I'm down to 223.8 right now and hope to lose at least 7 pounds this next week, the winner this week lost 5. I'm playing hockey tonight, and taking up running hardcore, and cutting back on drinking big time, and eating right so I should be in good shape. I'll update you all next Wednesday to see how I did, wish me luck!!!! :-)

Greatest workout in a long time!!!!

So last night I hit up 24 hour fitness because it had been a while and I was still hovering around the 230 mark and I've got softball coming up, hockey each week and my marathon relay, bolder boulder and marathon. I got to 24 hour fitness around 8:20 and spotted a bike that had the Rockies game right above it, I hopped on the bike and started pedaling, I told myself I'd ride until the game was over. 45 minutes later, I hopped off the bike and grabbed the remote to change that tv to the Avs game. I hopped on a treadmill that had the view of the Avs and Nuggets at the same time, I started my run and told myself I was going to run 3 miles. There was a crowd that started to gather around to watch the Nuggets game, I pretended that they were a marathon crowd watching me run and cheering me on, this gave me the motivation I needed to power through the 3 miles, I was done in 29 minutes :-) After that it was back to the bike until the Avs game was finished, another 45 minutes on the bike, then I stretched, did the steam room and hot tub, showered and I was done. I left the gym at 11:10, 1 1/2 hours on the bike, 29 minutes on the treadmill running 3 miles, this was the best single cardio workout I've had at the gym in over 3 years!!!!! now, if I can just keep it up :-)

It's been a while

So it's been a while since I've posted last, thanks for pointing it out Matt :-)

Today is hopefully going to be opening day for the Rockies (the rain did help us out yesterday though) and I love this time of year!!! Hockey is gearing up towards the playoffs which is my favorite, there's nothing quite like playoff hockey, also baseball is starting up, and the weather is getting warmer which means in no time I'll be partaking in softball, volleyball, Chatfield and camping!!!! Life is GREAT right now!!!!!!!!

GO ROCKIES!!!!!! GO AVS!!!!!!!!
